During this half-day tour you will taste and experience two of the most beloved foods of this region: Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Bologna in the morning and drive to a Parmigiano Reggiano cheese factory. We will tour the facility and learn all about the stages of making this product by hand, from boiling the milk to the expansive aging rooms. You will learn all of the secrets of making this delectable cheese and with our tasting session, you will also be able to recognize the real Parmigiano Reggiano from imitations!
We will then visit a local acetaia where we will receive a tour from a prestigious producer of traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena at his historical family-run facility. He will guide us through his many wooden barrels of this precious product, with some that date back more than one hundred years. After we learn about the production process of this local delicacy, we will taste this product at various ages and learn about its uses. Some of the balsamico we taste is aged up to 25 years!
Following our two tours, we will return you to your accommodation in Bologna at lunch time.
