Sunday – Arrival in Torino & welcome dinner
Arrival in Torino (Turin), beautiful city that housed the last winter Olympic games. Accommodation at a charming Italian style hotel in the heart of Torino, with pretty rooms and warm hospitality. Welcome dinner at a very nice Italian restaurant in the center.
Monday – Turin, guided tour and shopping in the charming city
Guided tour of Turin center with an English speaking guide. Lunch free and free time for shopping. In the afternoon departure to the Langhe area, in the hills where the most famous red wines of Piemonte -such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Grignolino and many more- are produced. Accommodation at a beautiful B&B, up to the hills, overlooking the countryside with scenic vineyards. Dinner at a very typical and welcoming restaurant in a little village nearby.
Tuesday – Wine tasting at Fontanafredda, torrone factory, honey producer visit and cooking lesson with a family chef
In the morning leave for an incredibly huge winery that belonged to the Savoias, royal family of Italy, named Fontanafredda. Visit of the winery. Then drive to Sinio, to visit a torrone (nougat) factory, -a typical sweet made with honey and nuts, specialty of Piemonte- and a family honey producer since three generations!! Honey tasting. Proceed to Serralunga with its antique castle, driving along an amazing panoramic road with view on vineyards. Light lunch at a local trattoria. Back to our B&B for a rest. In the late afternoon drive to a very close farmhouse for our cooking lesson with Antonia. Antonia is a great cook and she and her husband are wonderful people, friendly and warm. Dinner of our creations.
Wednesday – Truffle hunting with the typical "trifulao", winery visit and tasting and dinner with a local family
In the morning drive to a little hilltown of the Langhe for the truffle hunting with Giovanni. His family has hunted truffles and trained truffle dogs since 1880! After the truffle hunting we will have a light lunch at his home, very close to the castle. Back to our B&B. Free time. In the afternoon visit the beautiful winery that belongs to the owners of our B&B, followed by the tasting of some of their wines. Late afternoon departure to Murazzano, little village in the Alta Langa, famous for the cheese, called "tuma". Amazing dinner with a local family at their farmhouse, where they breed their own cows, sheeps and pigs and produce their own cheese, salumi and also Dolcetto and Barbera wine. The menu includes many courses of the traditional cuisine of the area and home produced cheese, salumi and Dolcetto and Barbera wines.
Thursday – Relax at your B&B, wine tasting and cooking lesson
Morning free to visit the beautiful property and enjoy the very nice swimming pool overlooking the hills, surrounded by vineyards. Light lunch at our B&B. In the afternoon drive to Barbaresco, the little town that has given the name to the famous wine. Tasting of Barbaresco wine at a local winery. Then proceed to Neive for a cooking class at a very nice restaurant with the chef. Dinner will follow at the restaurant.
Friday – Barolo wine tasting, and farewell dinner
Drive to La Morra, the terrace of Langhe. From this village we have the most panoramic and wonderful view of Langhe area, heart of Barolo wine production. Proceed to Barolo, the Italian town that gives the name to the most important wine of Piemonte. Then drive to a famous winery, Marchesi di Barolo, for a visit of the winery and tasting of the king of red Italian wines: Barolo. Light lunch at a nice farmhouse in the countryside, owned by a young couple, with menu based on a variety of local cheeses. Back to the hotel. Then drive to Diano D’Alba, stopping at Castello di Grinzane Cavour, a spectacular castle! Farewell dinner at a very charming trattoria with a view of the vineyards.
